Morrilton airport eyeing improvements

Posted: Updated:

MORRILTON (Petit Jean Country Headlight) - The Morrilton Municipal Airport Commission is looking at possible improvements and expansions at the airport.

Alderman Gary Koch, chair of the city council's airport committee, said last week one project that's being studied is a new hangar.

"We think that the market's conditions may be right for Morrilton to possibly expand our hangar," said Koch. "We think that our hangars at the airport are going to be in demand so we're going to look at the possibility of building a new hangar pretty shortly."

Koch said commissioners are also looking at possibly resurfacing and expanding the existing runway and have also been reviewing plans for a fence around the perimeter of the airport that would be tall enough to keep deer from getting on the runway.
