HEBER SPRINGS (KATV) - Country singer Mindy McCready was found dead in Cleburne County after apparently committing suicide.

According to Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss, neighbors heard gunshots in the 1100 block of Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs just after 3:30 Sunday afternoon. Deputies found McCready's body 30 minutes later. Sheriff Moss said McCready also shot her fiance's dog before killing herself.

Channel 7 News was at McCready's home when she returned home one week ago after a court-ordered stint in rehab. She was also in the midst of a child custody battle and domestic relations case.

Earlier this month, the father of Mindy McCready's 6-year-old son asked authorities to return the boy to his custody. In November 2011, McCready fled the State of Florida and came to Heber Springs with their son, violating a standing Florida court order.

In January, McCready's fiance, producer-songwriter David Wilson, died suddenly at their Heber Springs home. McCready denied having anything to do with his death. Sheriff Moss told Channel 7 News the State Crime Lab finished Wilson's autopsy Monday and he was going to meet with them about it Monday.

Her body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.

McCready was 37 years old.
