The Tulsa Oilers took the lead against the Arizona Sundogs in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

A goal 10:31 into the the first period by Michel Beausoleil proved to be the game winner, and powered Tulsa to the victory Justin Fox provided the assist.

Beausoleil had a great game for the Oilers, netting two goals.

Tulsa was boosted by Shane Madolora, who turned in a shutout with 39 saves. Madolora certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.98 entering the contest.

The Oilers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game Tulsa had been spending in the box. The Oilers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Tulsa relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Beausoleil, Sean Erickson and Ryan Menei took 14 of the team's 21 shots.

More assists for Tulsa came via Ryan Cramer, who had two.

The Arizona penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Sundogs surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Arizona put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Oilers to score on any of their eight power plays. The Sundogs were held below their usual level of production. Arizona puts an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. The Sundogs relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jake Hauswirth, Derek LeBlanc and Kevin Petovello took 20 of the team's 39 shots.
