Heart Walk planned at Forrest City Medical Center on Valentine's Day

Posted: Updated:

FORREST CITY (Times-Herald) - Thursday is Valentine's Day, and many people are making plans for a perfect way to show their love to that special someone. Forrest City Medical Center has something planned that day to encourage healthier lifestyles, ensuring more chances to show one's love.

The inaugural Valentine's Day Heart Walk will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, from 12 to 12:30 p.m., in the FCMC lower level parking lot. The event will depend on the weather.

Tony Astin, FCMC marketing director, spoke about the event and the educational efforts of the hospital this month.

"February is American Heart Month, and Forrest City Medical Center is raising awareness," Astin said. "We've worn red each Friday to raise awareness and held Senior Circle and Healthy Woman programs to get the information out to the public. The Heart Walk is part of that effort. Besides, is there a better day to celebrate heart health than Valentine's Day?"

Astin said FCMC is encouraging its staff and the entire community to walk for 30 minutes.

"We will also have heart health information on hand," added Astin.
