Tulsa Day Center Still in Need of Supplies, Especially Cereal

Oklahoma weather is known for its mood swings and that's apparent Tuesday afternoon and later on this week when it warms up again.

But while you may decide to shut yourself indoors, that's not always an option for the homeless population. That's where the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless steps in and provides relief to those needing it.

According to their website, "400 people seek shelter and services each day at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, which is the only day time shelter in Tulsa for people who are homeless or in need."

Every month the center provides a press release where they outline their needs for the month. In February they are:

   - Clinic Needs: Chapstick and cough drops

   - Household needs: towels, pans and skillets, can openers

   - General shelter needs: men's and women's coats

Sandra Lewis with the shelter also told KTUL.com that the shelter is in need of cereal. Any size or kind can be dropped off at their location downtown.

The Day Center was created in 1986 by a group of concerned Tulsans seeking to provide a safe place for people who were homeless. You can reach them at 918-583-5588.
