Farmers Day at the Arkansas Legislature

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation is organizing its regular-session Farm Day at the Capitol.

Arkansas farmers and ranchers are to gather at the Capitol Tuesday afternoon to meet with legislators and discuss bills that are a priority for the agriculture community.

The federation is voicing support for sales tax exemptions for agricultural purchases and opposes reducing any reductions in existing exemptions.

The group is backing funding for the University Division of Agriculture, which has a large network of extension services for growers.

Considering the drought conditions that plagued the state during last growing season, farmers want legislators to set an agricultural priority for water resources, second only to human consumption.
