Update: Wreck stalls traffic on I-30 for hours

Posted: Updated:

State Police have updated us on this accident.  They tell Channel 7 that the eastbound lanes on Interstate 30 were re-opened just before six o'clock Friday.  They were shutdown just west of Malvern at the 91 mile marker.

Authorities say William Almond, of Hot Springs, was driving a large pick-up truck and pulling a trailer loaded with construction equipment. He stopped on the shoulder of the interstate and was merging into eastbound traffic when a tractor trailer hit the back end of Almonds trailer.  Almond's truck was pushed along the guardrail of an overpass and the off the road where his truck fell approximately 40-feet into an embankment below the bridge.  Almond was airlifted to a Little Rock hospital.  His conditions hasn't been released.
