CLEVELAND COUNTY (KATV) - Officials were called to a gas leak near Rison Elementary School Thursday afternoon.
County workers were using a backhoe to clean out ditches on Sycamore and School streets north of the school district intersection when they hit a gas pipe. There were no explosions and no one was evacuated but students were moved from the north end of the school to the auditorium for a short time.
Sheriff's deputies said if they don't get it shut off by the time school lets out, they will move student pickup to a different area of school property.
