Cherokee County, Oklahoma -

Authorities in Cherokee County say a gas explosion destroyed a home and left one man injured near Tahlequah, Saturday, Feb. 2.

According to Cherokee County Under Sheriff Jason Chennault the explosion occurred around 7 p.m. at a home near Highway 51.

50-year-old Jeff Saddler had been living in the house for less than a week when a propane tank exploded, according to family members.

The propane tank had been installed the day of the explosion.

Chennault said that Saddler was taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa.

Saddler is in the burn unit there with third degree burns covering 25 percent of his body. Saddler is listed in critical condition at this time.

Crews are still at the scene investigating the cause of the explosion.
