The Oklahoma Historical Society has acquired a large collection of works by legendary musician and native Oklahoman Leon Russell.
The collection is intended for display in a planned pop culture museum in Tulsa.
The historical society is seeking approval for a $42.5 million bond issue to build the OKPOP Museum in downtown Tulsa.
A proposed $20 million bond issue to fund the museum narrowly passed the Senate last year before it was derailed in the House.
The museum is planned as a 75,000 square foot facility dedicated to Oklahoma artists and their impact on popular culture.
Russell attended a news conference in Tulsa to make the announcement.
