Tulsa Rowers Attempt World Record

Posted: Updated:

A local rowing club is trying to set a world record this weekend.

Bishop Kelley junior Nicole Baumann is taking the challenge to row for 30 straight hours.

About 60 athletes are rowing on rowing machines along the Arkansas river.

They are trying to row as many meters as possible during a 12 hour period.

Baumann says the challenge drew her into trying to break the record.

Channel 8's Andrew Kozak was there to help kick things off.

The team will have a learn-to-row event in February to recruit new members.

Money raised from this event will help buy new equipment and help fund a trip to the UK this summer.
