Woman in Texarkana stabbing found mentally fit

TEXARKANA (AP) - A judge has found that a Texarkana woman is competent to be tried on charges she stabbed her boyfriend to death.

Prosecutors have charged 20-year-old Simone Inise Miller with second-degree murder for the death last July of 26-year-old Lane Denny. On Tuesday, Circuit Judge Joe Griffin set trial for Feb. 25 after reviewing a mental evaluation report that found Miller competent.

Police say Miller told investigators that three other people attacked Denny but say the story didn't hold together. Miller twice tried to flee when police questioned her.

Miller has pleaded not guilty in the attack, which occurred at a Texarkana apartment complex.

Denny died of a stab wound that damaged his heart, spleen and a lung.
