LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe isn't expected to make repealing the death penalty part of his agenda for this year's legislative session, even though the Democrat did say last week that he would sign a bill that ends capital punishment if one should reach his desk.
Executions are - though - shaping up as part of the 2013 session after the state Supreme Court struck down Arkansas' lethal injection law last year.
Staffers with the attorney general's office are working with the Department of Correction to come up with new legislation that's expected to be filed in the coming weeks. And Republican Rep. Bart Hester of Cave Springs has already filed his own lethal injection proposal.
