Texarkana boy arrested for bringing gun to school

Posted: Updated:

TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - Police arrested an 11-year-old student at a Texarkana middle school after the boy reportedly showed an unloaded handgun to another student.

Texarkana police say the boy brought the small-caliber gun to College Hill Middle School on Wednesday so he could show it to another student. The Texarkana Gazette reports (http://is.gd/mootUB ) that the student who saw the gun reported the incident to school administrators.

The school district says the student who brought the gun to school was questioned and searched. No bullets were found and the gun was unloaded.

Police say the youth was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun on school property. His name wasn't released because of his age.

A spokeswoman for the district says she expects administrators will recommend that the boy be expelled.
