Classes canceled after fire at NE Arkansas school

Posted: Updated:

NEWARK, Ark. (AP) - Classes are canceled Friday after a fire at an Independence County school.

School officials say there will be no classes Friday in the Cedar Ridge School District because of the blaze. Officials tell Jonesboro television station KAIT (http://is.gd/VI3HA0 ) that the fire happened in the high school computer lab at about 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the blaze has been extinguished and fire officials are investigating.

The school says the building sustained smoke damage from the blaze.

The Cedar Ridge School District was formed in 2003 by the consolidation of the Newark and Cord-Charlotte districts.
