Arkansas ranks No. 5 in Education Week rankings

Posted: Updated:

States around the country received their report card Thursday and the results gave Arkansas schools every reason to be proud of themselves. K-12 schools received high marks in several categories including the Accountability and Teaching category. In the first one, they received an "A" and they earned a "B+" in Teaching. It wasn't all great news though as there were some areas where improvement could be made. The report said the state had to make much needed progress in the Achievement and Chance for Success categories. The state fell below the national average receiving a "D" . That landed the state at 44th place.

There are a total of six categories that this report uses to determine these scores only three of those categories were used.

Arkansas has received an overall score of 81.6. Placing the state behind only Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia.
