UPDATE: Guy-Perkins superintendent arrested, warrant issued for his son

Posted: Updated:

GUY (KATV) - The superintendent of the Guy-Perkins School District is facing two felony charges.

Faulkner County Chief Deputy Matt Rice said in a press release that David Westenhover had at least one stolen weapon in his possession. He was arrested Thursday on felony charges of theft by receiving and hindering apprehension plus misdemeanor obstruction of government operations.

Investigators first questioned the 49-year-old about stolen weapons and property on September 30. He was taken into custody that day from his home, which is on school property, though authorities said he was never arrested at that time.

School board members announced Thursday night that Westenhover will step down at the end of the school year. The board put him on paid administrative leave.

A warrant has also been issued for the superintendent's son, Josh Westenhover. According to our news partners at the Log Cabin Democrat, Josh Westenhover wanted for a theft by receiving charge, a Class D felony.

David Westenhover's bail was set at $6,000. He has bonded out.
