REDFIELD (KATV) - Redfield Middle School will close its doors for the last time in May.
The White Hall School Board voted 4-2 Tuesday night to close the school at the end of the year. Dr. Larry Smith, White Hall's superintendent, said in a written statement that the recommendation was in response to higher costs from changes to health insurance, fallout from the fiscal cliff's "sequester" and lower enrollment.
The district has also proposed changes in for their rules regarding school facilities. Redfield middle School was built in the 1930's and officials said that renovating the campus would have cost $4.5 - 5 million.
