HOT SPRINGS (KATV) - Jockey Calvin Borel's quest for career milestone 5,000th win was delayed by an injury to his wrist Thursday morning.
A spokesperson for Oaklawn said in a press release that Borel suffered a minor fracture in his wrist that will require a cast. He is expected to be riding again in about 18 days.
Borel's wife, Lisa, posted about the injury on Facebook:
Hey everyone,
5000 will have to wait~ X Rays show what Calvin Borel thought was a bad wrist sprain actually involves a minor fracture that will require a cast. Our Doctors believe he'll be out about 18 days.
Will keep everyone posted.
Oaklawn and the City of Hot Springs will be prepared to honor Calvin with trading cards as soon as he returns to riding and wins his 5,000th race.
