Little Rock Opening Truancy Center

The Little Rock School District and police will have a new tool to deal with truant students beginning January 9th

The city plans to open a Truancy Center at 3615 West 25th to hold students on truancy violations.   According to police, the center is designed to "help keep juveniles off the street and in the classroom during school hours".  The center is also meant to cut down on juvenile crime. 

The center is housed in the old Garland Elementary School.

The center will be staffed by personnel from the LRSD and LRPD.  School staff will man the center from 8:30 a.m. until Noon, police will be on site from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
