Oklahoma City Thunder assignee Perry Jones scored 25 points with 16 rebounds but the Tulsa 66ers fell to the Texas Legends, 116-80, Saturday night at the SpiritBank Event Center.
Fellow Thunder assignee Jeremy Lamb scored 12 points with five rebounds and Daniel Orton collected seven points and six boards.
The 66ers (8-7) were outrebounded 44-40 and surrendered 13 turnovers. Texas (10-5) shot 53.6 percent from the field and 45 percent from behind the 3-point line.
Mike James and Melvin Ely led the Legends with 26 and 21 points respectively.
"This [loss] is a part of the process," said Tulsa Head Coach Darko Rajakovic. "Nobody said it was going to be easy. We need to learn from this experience and not allow ourselves to have nights like this. What's important for players in this league is tomorrow – what you do tomorrow and how you use this to experience to become a better player tomorrow."
The 66ers play four games next week, including two at the annual NBA D-League Showcase in Reno, Nev. Tulsa's first Showcase matchup is against the Maine Red Claws at 5:30 p.m CT on Tuesday. It will be aired on tape delay on NBA TV.
