Road Work Begins on 71st Street Near Tulsa Hills Area

TULSA, Okla. -

One of Tulsa's most traveled and roughest portions of pavement is about to become a cone zone.

Reconstruction begins Monday on west 71st Street from the Arkansas River to the Tulsa Hills Shopping center.

Crews will begin by taking out the center median. One lane in both directions immediately west of the bridge will close while that work happens.

Then, about a week later, traffic will be limited to one lane in both directions from the bridge to south Olympia Avenue.

This project is funded by a 2008 bond issue and is scheduled to be completed in October.
