Entergy Arkansas says as of Wednesday at 3:00pm, about 160,000 customers are without power and it could take seven or more days to get all power restored.
Nearly 4,000 workers have been asked to help Entergy employees restore electricity but the company says dangerous road conditions and traffic congestion are making it difficult for work crews to begin restoration work.
The threat of falling trees and tree limbs is posing a risk to the workers trying to assess the damage.
"Getting the lights back on will be a long and pain-staking process," said Hugh McDonald, president and CEO of Entergy Arkansas. "Nature dealt us a one-two punch yesterday with winter precipitation and high winds that severely damaged our electrical grid and left us with dangerous working conditions for our repair crews. We are asking customers for their understanding and patience as we restore power as quickly and safely as possible in a very hazardous work environment.
Entergy will be working on:
Today:
Helena
Russellville
Tomorrow:
Pine Bluff
Stuttgart
Lonoke
Marion
Forrest City
Friday:
Blytheville
Little Rock areas, Malvern, Hot Springs after that: estimated at 7+ days. (That includes the general metro area: so this includes Bryant, Maumelle, etc)
