Rogers tornado siren accidentally goes off

Posted:

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) - Police in Rogers say an electrical problem caused a tornado siren in the city to accidentally go off.

The Springdale Morning News reports that the siren behind an elementary school on the city's west side activated, then turned off on its own about five times Wednesday morning.

The siren went off a day after a wintry mix of light snow and freezing rain fell in the area.

Police spokesman Keith Foster says phones at the Rogers Central Dispatch were "ringing non-stop" but that there is no severe weather forecast for the area Wednesday.
