TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A preliminary hearing for a
Tulsa man facing a child neglect charge after police found an
18-month-old girl locked in a metal dog cage has been postponed
until Jan. 16.
Police also found a naked 4-year old girl outside on a cold November afternoon Lewallen stated that he had taken oxycontin, among other medication, and
drank a beer before he fell asleep, according to the police report.
According to the police report, the child had been outside for more than
20 minutes in 40 degree weather. When police arrived at the scene, they
could hear screaming and crying coming from the girl locked inside the dog cage.
A third
child was asleep in another room.
The children were placed into the custody of the Department of Human Services.
Erin Elizabeth Lewallen, 27, is being charged with child neglect, after leaving the three children alone on Sunday, Nov. 11.
According to court records, a man by the same name
and the same birth date was given a suspended sentence in August after
pleading guilty to possession of a precursor to manufacture
methamphetamine.
