Suit filed against City of Bryant, police officer

Posted: Updated:

BRYANT (Saline Courier) - A lawsuit accusing a Bryant police officer of unlawfully arresting a county resident following a motor vehicle accident involving the plaintiff's wife has been filed in U.S. District Court.

Robert Burdett of Bryant named the City of Bryant and Ofc. Michael Turner as defendants, citing nine specific counts related to the alleged incident.

Burdett claims that on August 18, 2011, his wife was in a minor car accident. He drove to the scene to help and police were already there. He claimed in the suit that Bryant Police didn't do a good enough job on another case he was involved with so he started taking photos of the scene himself to show how they weren't doing a good enough job on this case, either.

Burdett alleges he was ordered to stop taking pictures and leave the scene but when he did, Ofc. Turner followed him, pulled him over and gave him a ticket "for his manner of driving."
