LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Jury selection is under way in federal court in Little Rock for the trial of a former police officer charged in a sweeping drug and corruption investigation in eastern Arkansas.
Jury selection began shortly after 9 a.m. Monday for the trial of former Helena-West Helena Police Sgt. Marlene Kalb's trial on money-laundering and drug-related charges.
Kalb has pleaded not guilty and has maintained her innocence.
Kalb is 1 of 6 former law enforcement officers indicted in an investigation called "Operation Delta Blues" that focused on corruption and drug trafficking in the Mississippi Delta town of Helena-West Helena.
Four other former law officers have pleaded guilty to various charges in the case and dozens of other people were also indicted as a result of the investigation.
