LITTLE ROCK (KATV) -
The Arkansas Department of Correction reports a Cummins inmate strangled his cellmate to death with a bed sheet Friday night.
Robert Holland, who was already serving life without parole for capital murder in Union County, told an officer making rounds at 1:00 Saturday morning that he killed his cellmate.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old Matthew Scheile of Benton County. Schiele was serving a 48-month sentence for failure to register as a sex offender. He would have been eligible for parole on March 15.
Holland told the guard he strangled Scheile to death late Friday night and covered him up with a sheet to hide it. The 44-year-old convicted murderer has been in prison since November 1991.
Arkansas State Police are still investigating this case.
