ACH Opening Center to be Named After CEO

Posted: Updated:

Arkansas Children's Hospital is creating a Center for Patient and Profession Advocacy to honor its retiring CEO, Jonathan R. Bates.

The hospital says it is designating an initial $3 million to establish the center, which will focus on the quality of healthcare, improved patient safety and family-centerd practices and professionalism.

ACH says Bates, who has been CEO for 20 years, "focused daily on improving every facet of pediatric health and care delivery across the state".

Under Bates direction the hospital has seen much growth, including opening two centers for children's healthcare in Lowell and Jonesboro, and a $121 million, 258,000-square foot patient care wing that recently opened at the main campus in Little Rock.

ACH is the only pediatric medical center in the state and one of the largest in the entire country.

Bates will serve as CEO through June of next year.
