Great Passion Play is Resurrected through donations

Posted: Updated:

(KATV) The show will go on. Thanks to $75,000 in donations, the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs has been saved from foreclosure.

The show tells the story of Jesus Christ's life and death. Now, the Gospel Station Network that spearheaded the fundraiser aims to raise money to renovate the production that has drawn millions of visitors over more than 40-years.

The production involves more than 150 actors and animals

The play is scheduled to reopen in May, when the season normally starts.

Previous Story, December 4:

Despite efforts to keep the doors open, The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs will close.

The executive director says he started to sell animals, hay and feed. He said the bank will take ownership of the property.

Back in September, we told you the group needed $500,000 to stay open. And that did not happen.
