Local Family Moves Into "Habitat For Humanity" House

Posted: Updated:

A local family is enjoying their new home from Habitat For Humanity.

Angela Wooten was handed the keys to her new home Tuesday.

She and her two children worked alongside area volunteers to build the home from scratch.

It took hundreds of hours over the past three months.

Though the Wootens knew this day was coming, reality didn't set in until they got to walk inside the home.

"Now that I actually get keys, I'm starting to feel a little bit more overwhelmed like it's actually mine," says Wooten. "So I'm a little excited."

Wooten will have a 20-year, zero-interest mortgage.

Her monthly payment will pay her taxes, insurance, and into a fund that will help build more homes in the future.
