Tulsa's Channel 8 announced to staff today the retirement of one their most familiar faces on the street and in the newsroom.

Bill Mitchell spent 43 years in the Tulsa market as a News Reporter, Senior News Reporter and most recently as Good Morning Oklahoma's News and Traffic Reporter.

Bill graduated from California State University in Northridge in 1971 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film and spent many years in the Army as an airborne military policeman.

In his broadcast television career Bill worked for not only KTUL twice but also KJRH in Tulsa, KARK in Little Rock and for KOCO in Oklahoma City.

Bill recently married the love of his life, Jill and together they made the decision to start the next phase of their life; one that allows them to spend more time together.

"It was with mixed emotions that I had to inform our employees of Bill's retirement," said KTUL President and General Manager Pat Baldwin. "He has been a member of our Channel 8 family for over 18 years. He will be missed here on Lookout Mountain but we are also excited for him and his wife."

Bill Mitchell's last day on Tulsa's Channel 8 will be Friday, December 14th, 2012.
