Injured Star City football player improves, supporters hold benefit

Posted: Updated:

Injured Star City football player Zack Towers continues to recover.

Thursday morning the "Prayers for Zack Towers" Facebook page posted "Update: Overnight Zack lifted his right hand over his head for the first time, and is starting to move a lot more. Things are starting to look very good, Praise the Lord for that! Keep up the prayers! Thanks everyone!"

The page also says Towers was moved out of ICU earlier this week.

The high school senior has been in the hospital for three weeks after receiving a head injury during a football game.

Supporters are holding a benefit Saturday to help the family pay for his medical care. A run/walk will take place at Cane Creek State Park at 9 AM. The registration fee is $10 a person.

A chili dinner will be held after the race. Registration forms can be picked up and returned to Star City High School, Cane Creek State Park, and Star City Community Center. For additional information on signing up, click here.
