St. Francis County agrees to give bonuses to employees - KATV - Breaking News, Weather and Razorback Sports

FORREST CITY (Times-Herald) - County employees will be receiving incentive bonuses this year after the move was approved during a special St. Francis County Quorum Court meeting held Tuesday.

Justices voted 10-to-1 in favor of giving county employees the bonuses, despite a shortfall in the county's general account.

All members of the Court attended Tuesday's meeting. During the regular November meeting, justices failed to get nine votes in favor of the measure due to two absences. 

County attorney Fletcher Long read the ordinance a second time. The move will give $300 bonuses to full-time employees and those working more than 1,000 hours, and $100 bonuses for part-time employees and those working less than 1,000 hours. Elected officials will not receive a bonus.

County Judge Gary Hughes called for a vote to waive the rules and hold a third reading of the ordinance. Justice Luther Lieblong was the only member of the court to vote against the measure.

After the third reading, Justice Charles McGowan made a motion that was seconded by Justice Leodis Williams to adopt the ordinance.

During discussion, Justice Ernestine Weaver praised the county employees for their work and said she felt they should receive the bonuses since they did not receive a raise in 2012.

The court unanimously voted to waive the rules and hold a third reading on an ordinance that will expand the SFC Museum Board from 12 to 18 members. Justices also voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance after the third reading.
