It was a once in a lifetime experience for one Eufaula resident.

Back in August, retired librarian Mona Hatfield flew out to Los Angeles to appear on the long-running game show and test her intellectual prowess.

Tulsa's Channel 8 caught up with Mona in Los Angeles back in August during the taping.

Our Kristin Dickerson asked her about her family's reaction to her television debut. Hatfield told us: "I really haven't told anybody that I'm going to be on 'Jeopardy,' there are very few people who know." She added, "I'm going to be in trouble with my son over this, I'm sure. Because he doesn't know yet."

Hatfield says, she "just came for fun and the challenge. And it is definitely a challenge, particularly being here with all of these young contestants who are part of the video game age who have much faster reflexes than I do."

She adds it also "It all depends on the category, what you know about those categories, questions they ask. The hardest part, is the final jeopardy, making your wager, trying to figure out what the people on either side of you are going to do."

Even though Hatfield ended up placing third during Thursday's show, she thought it was a "wonderful experience" and "wonderful opportunity."
