FORREST CITY (Times-Herald) - Organizers for the third annual community Thanksgiving dinner have
been hard at work, smoking hens and preparing side items for Thursday's
dinner at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church.
The meal, which is a collaborative effort involving volunteers from
various community organizations and churches, will be served from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m., and meals will also be delivered to the sick and shut
in. The menu will include turkey and hen, mashed potatoes, dressing,
gravy, green beans, corn and drinks, along with dessert, including
apple, pumpkin and sweet potato pies. The meal will be served in the
GMPC fellowship hall.
Several area churches are involved in the cooperative effort.
Donations have also been pouring in from community members and
businesses. Forrest City Rotary Club members are assisting with the
effort along with members of the Alpha Angels and Twillie's Tigers
baseball team. Rep. Marshall Wright and officials with Core-Mark were
praised by organizers for their assistance with securing several cases
of hens for the mass meal.
