(KATV, Source: Clinton Nat'l Airport) Little Rock - Bill and Hillary Clinton National
Airport is expecting high passenger volume during the Thanksgiving Week.
More than 30,000 passengers are expected
during the period, which runs through Sunday, November 25th.
According to projections released by the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA), the airport will be at least 2.5 percent busier this Thanksgiving over
last year's holiday.
Sunday, November
25th will be the most crowded with 4,680 enplaned, or departing
passengers, followed by the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 21th
with 4,283 passengers. The projection does not include arriving passengers to
the airport. The Thanksgiving Holiday Week is the busiest time of the year for
the state's largest airport.
Those using
Clinton National will notice massive construction underway in the ticket
lobby. All airline ticket counters are in operation, and construction is
not expected to slow down passengers.
Throughout the
holiday travel season, the airport will see more leisure passengers, many of
whom do not travel often. Passengers are asked to follow the following
tips to help ensure they arrive at their destination on-time and as stress-free
as possible.
- Be at the airport at least an
hour and a half before your flight. This will allow time to check-in,
handle any security waits and be at the gate on time as most flights are
expected to be full.
- Travelers may bring one carry-on
bag and one personal item, such as a purse or laptop.
- Liquids, gels and aerosols as
carry-ones must be in: three ounce containers or smaller that are placed
in a one quart, clear plastic zip-top bag. Limit one zip-top bag per
passenger.
- Do not wrap gifts as officers may
have to search contents of packages.
- Before leaving home, check your
air carrier's website to make sure your flight is on-time and check-in online
if possible. However, those checking luggage will still need to stop at the
airline ticket counter.
- For quick pick-up, customers may
use the 30-minute metered parking in front of the terminal and baggage claim.
- Clinton
National provides a free cell phone parking lot for drivers waiting for
passengers. Motorists may avoid looping around the terminal by using the lot at
the former Aerospace Education Center located on Roosevelt Road.
