TPS to Hold Sale of Bricks from Burned Down Barnard Building

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Public Schools announced Tuesday that bricks from the Barnard building will be sold to those interested in purchasing them.

From 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, bricks from the former elementary school will be sold for $5 dollars each. The sale will take place in the Cheryl Selman Room at the TPS Education Service Center on South New Haven Avenue.

Back in September, the school burned down and forced the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences to relocate to the former Sequoyah building. Demolition is currently underway at the Barnard site.

"I am not surprised by the large number of requests we have received for bricks from Barnard's many fans," said Dr. Keith Ballard, superintendent.  "Built in 1925, the historical building is home to powerful memories for the staff and students who called it home over the years."

Bricks will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with proceeds to go back into the building general fund. Quantities are limited to the approximately 800 bricks that were salvaged from the site.
