CONWAY (Log Cabin) - A couple of months after gaining approval for a Kum & Go convenience store near the campus of the University of Central Arkansas, company officials are coming back with a proposal for a second location.
Kum & Go will ask for rezoning on the Southeast corner of Meadowlake Road and Donaghey Avenue in order to place another convenience store with a fuel station at the next Conway Planning Commission meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the District Court Building. The current zoning in the area is residential (R-1), and the proposal will be for neighborhood commercial (C-2). A conditional use permit will also be proposed in order to add the fuel pumps.
The first Kum & Go store took a few months to be approved by the Conway City Council. Following several public hearings, the last proposal for the convenience store passed 5-3 in July. Voting for the rezoning were Aldermen Andy Hawkins, David Grimes, Mark Vaught, Shelley Mehl and Mary Smith. Voting no were Aldermen Theo Jones, Jim Rhodes and Sheila Whitmore.
