(KATV, Source: City of Little Rock) The City of Little Rock is proud to be the home of many
young achievers. Tuesday, the Board of Directors recognized the Episcopal
Collegiate School's Boys Golf and Girls Tennis Teams for winning the State 3A
Championships.
This is the third time in four years that the ECS Boys' Golf
Team has won the 3A State Championship and the fifth consecutive
title for the Girls Tennis Team.
These student athletes are shining examples of
self-discipline and hard work. The boy's Golf Team consists of: Conley Hurst,
William Pollock, Foster Pollock and Edward Thompson. Seniors Conley Hurst and Foster Pollock made
All-State as did Junior William
Pollock.
In addition, Hurst has also been named an HP
Scholastic Junior All-American and is eligible to participate in the Polo Golf
Junior Classic, one of the most prestigious events in junior golf.
The Boys Golf
Coach is Jerry Reese, Athletic Director at Episcopal.
The Girls
Tennis Team consists of: Laura Lanier, Elsie Pugh, Sonia Helen Pascale,
Madeline Tabor, Mary Grace Munson and Josie Hurst.
The Wildcats
won the conference tournament by a landslide, outscoring the runners up by a
score of 17-2. Both doubles and singles finals were all Episcopal
finals.
Lanier captured the state title in singles this year and
Pugh was the 3A runner up.
