Conway man arrested for attempted capital murder

Posted: Updated:

CONWAY (KATV) - A wanted attempted capital murder suspect was arrested in Faulkner County Thursday when he showed up in court on unrelated charges.

Rodney J. "RJ" Smith had been on the run since October 16 when he is accused of shooting Samuel Davis outside a mobile home in the Oakwood Village trailer park on Robins Street. Investigators say he shot Davis once in the head and the leg. Davis is still recovering.

After the shooting, police say Smith left the scene and switched cars. Conway PD got reports of sightings of Smith but nothing panned out until he showed up in court Thursday.

Smith, who had been considered armed and dangerous, was taken into custody with no problems.
