Pilot dies from injuries in small plane crash in Conway

(KATV) Officials with the Conway Police Department confirm that the pilot, 65 year old Robert Allen III died Wednesday night from injuries. He was the only person in the plane when it crashed Wednesday afternoon.

 


 

CONWAY (KATV) - A small plane crashed while trying to land at the Conway Municipal Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers told Channel 7 News in a phone interview Robert Allen, III, had engine trouble shortly after take-off. When the 65-year-old turned around to come back, he clipped trees and went through a fence.

The plane landed on its side against a truck. Allen was taken to UAMS via med flight. At last check, he was listed in critical condition.

Jim West of Conway Corp. told KATV's news partner the Log Cabin Democrat that there were no damages to utilities in the crash. Click here to see their video from the scene.

Allen is from Oxford, Mississippi.

The FAA is investigating this incident with help from the Conway Police Department.
