CONWAY (KATV) - A small plane crashed while trying to land at the Conway Municipal Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers told Channel 7 News in a phone interview Robert Allen, III, had engine trouble shortly after take-off. When the 65-year-old turned around to come back, he clipped trees and went through a fence.

The plane landed on its side against a truck. Allen was taken to UAMS via med flight. At last check, he was listed in critical condition.

Jim West of Conway Corp. told KATV's news partner the Log Cabin Democrat that there were no damages to utilities in the crash. Click here to see their video from the scene.

Allen is from Oxford, Mississippi.
