University of Central Arkansas linebacker Seth Allison was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.
Allison, a graduate student from Stuttgart, had seven solo tackles and a pair of second-half interceptions in UCA's 34-14 victory over the Lions at Strawberry Stadium. Allison helped the Bears' defense shut out the Lions in the first half and hold them to 125 total yards in the first two quarters.
Allison, who returned his fourth-quarter pick 43 yards, is UCA's third leading tackler this season with 63 stops, and has also forced three fumbles and broken up four passes.
UCA has had a league-high 10 players of the week through the first nine weeks of the 2012 season.
The 13th-ranked Bears (7-2, 5-1) will be playing for an SLC championship this weekend when they host the Northwestern State Demons at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.
