March trial set for man charged in Magnolia death

MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) - A judge has scheduled a March trial for a man accused of capital murder in the death of a 74-year-old Magnolia woman.

Robert Harrison is charged in the May 27 death of Glenda Stroman. Court records say Stroman's throat was cut during an apparent burglary of her home.

Prosecutors say DNA found underneath Stroman's fingernails linked Harrison to the crime. He has pleaded not guilty. The Banner-News reports (http://is.gd/rer6C4 ) that Harrison rejected an offer last week in which prosecutors would waive the death penalty in exchange for a guilty plea to first-degree murder.

Harrison's attorney, Robert Jeffrey, says he met with Harrison and his client said he did not want to accept the plea deal.

Harrison is scheduled to go to trial March 25.
