Trial delayed for Jacksonville man accused of assaulting 5-year-old girl

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Trial for the owner of a Jacksonville skating rink accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl was delayed Monday.

Robert Borders, 46, appeared in Pulaski County court for a pre-trial hearing. The judge granted the defense's request for a delay so they will have more time to prepare. The prosecution did not object.

Witnesses say Borders was able to get the five-year-old girl to walk toward the arcade at Skate World located at 521 North J.P. Wright Loop Road. That's where he allegedly used a plastic gun attached to a machine to rub her before attempting to lure her into the bathroom. She did not go.

Similar allegations have been made against Borders in the past but he maintains his innocence.

Trial was originally going to begin October 11. It is now set to start April 2, 2013. Borders returns to court for another pre-trial hearing February 4.

Borders was released in January on a $5,000 bond. He is charged with 2nd degree sexual assault, a class B felony.
