LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Two Arkansas-bred political heavyweights will be major speakers at each of this year's major party conventions.
Several Obama campaign and Democratic party officials told the Huffington Post July 29 that Bill Clinton would make a forceful case for President Barack Obama's re-election and his economic vision for the country at that party's convention, slated to run Monday, September 3 - Thursday, September 6.
Across the aisle, Mike Huckabee is slated to speak at the Republican National Convention. Little has been given away about what each speaker will speak on at that convention, with party officials focusing instead on revealing a long list of speakers they hope will unite the various wings of the party. That convention is set to run Monday, August 27 - Thursday, August 30.
It is Washington tradition for the challenging party's convention to go first, followed by the incumbent president's party. During each, the opposing party historically avoids any major political announcements.
