Head coach Bob Stoops announced that senior wide receiver Justin Brown has joined the University of Oklahoma football roster.
Brown comes to Norman after spending three seasons at Penn State, where he was named third-team preseason All-Big Ten by Phil Steele's College Football Preview. During his tenure with the Nittany Lions, Brown saw duty in 30 contests, collecting 73 receptions for 1,047 yards (14.9 avg.) with three touchdowns. His career receiving yardage total ranks 20th in Penn State history. He also returned 49 punts for 338 yards (6.9 avg.) with a 33-yard long.
"We are excited that Justin wants to finish his college career here at OU," Stoops said. "Justin started 11 games last season and was a productive performer on offense and special teams. We are confident that he can quickly integrate with our team. We're looking forward to the experience and maturity he will add to our receiving corps."
Brown was the only Penn State player to have at least one catch in every game last year, ranking second on the squad with 35 catches for 517 yards (14.8 avg.) with three touchdowns. He registered a career-long, 69-yard scoring grab in the TicketCity Bowl vs. Houston. He led the team with 27 punt returns for 220 yards. His 33-yard punt returns vs. Purdue and at Wisconsin were the club's longest of the season, while his 737 all-purpose yards were the team's third-highest tally. In total, he took 731 snaps in 2011, the highest total of any Penn State wide receiver or running back.
