July Marks Most Slayings in Little Rock since 1990s

Posted: Updated:

Little Rock Police Department records show that there were 10 slayings in the city last month. That the most slayings in a single month in the city in nearly two decades since the gang wars in the early 1990s. In December 1993 there were 11.

Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas says there were three double homicides in July including a pregnant woman whose fetus is counted among the victims.  Thomas says all three were committed by people who knew the victims.

Thomas says the circumstances that include people knowing the victims make the deaths different from 1993 when the issues were about gangs and turf wars.
