Jeannette Reyes is a general assignment reporter for Channel 7 News. She was born and raised in Providence, R.I. but her family is originally from the Dominican Republic.
Jeannette grew up watching the Spanish-language network, Univision. As the daughter of Dominican immigrants, she remembers how important the news was to her family and how connected it kept them to their relatives back home. It was there that her passion for news and informing the community was born.
Jeannette is the youngest of four. She has two sisters, Jannelle and Gisselle, and her brother Edwin. She received her BA in Broadcast Journalism at Kent State University where she was the first place recipient of the national Hearst Award and RTDNA's Ken Kashiwahara Scholarship.
In her spare time, Jeannette loves to go Salsa dancing, spend time at a coffee shop reading a good book and going out with friends. A little known fact is that Jeannette's first language is Spanish and she hopes to deliver the news in that language some day.
Jeannette looks forward to hearing from viewers on Facebook and Twitter. She can also be reached by e-mail at jreyes@katv.com.
