Brooks Gets Special Moment as Thunder Reach Finals - KATV - Breaking News, Weather and Razorback Sports

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks knows he has really accomplished something by getting his team to the NBA finals.

His 79-year-old mother Lee, who hates flying, is going to get on a plane to come watch his Thunder play for the championship.

Brooks said Friday his mother refused to fly to see him play in the NBA until he was on the Houston Rockets team that played for and won the 1994 title. She held out the same requirements when he became the Thunder's coach in 2008.

She has come to see his teams when they have played in Sacramento, but otherwise she's often parked in front of the television and hollering at it when the Thunder play.

Brooks' mom said last year that if she ever came to a game, she "might be thrown out."
